Marcel Koller is a Swiss former professional football player and current coach. He was born on November 11, 1960, in Zurich, Switzerland. Koller played as a defender for several Swiss clubs, including FC Zurich, Neuchatel Xamax, and FC Koln. He also earned 55 caps for the Swiss national team between 1982 and 1996.
After retiring from playing, Koller began a coaching career in Switzerland. He led FC Zurich to two league titles and also coached other Swiss clubs, including Grasshopper Zurich and FC St. Gallen.
In 2011, Koller was appointed head coach of the Austrian national team. He led Austria to qualify for the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament, their first major international tournament since the 1998 World Cup. Koller left his position as Austria coach in 2017 and later coached FC Basel in Switzerland.
